BRIEF HISTORY
IGL Charity Foundation (Instruments of God’s Love Charities) started in 2011 as a group of men and women dedicated to using their time, talent and treasure in offering service to God through their fellow human beings who are going through difficulties. It was established on the belief that we are the hands and feet of Christ. It is through us that Christ reaches out to the least of our brethren. We had as our founding belief, the biblical saying that “no one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is made complete in us” (I Jn 4:12). Again, we believed in Christ saying, “whatever we do to the least of my brothers, you do to me.” Furthermore, we believed the scriptural saying, “you are the light of the world.” Thus, we saw ourselves as co-sharers in the work of Christ who is the Light of the world (John 8). We held strongly to the words of Christ, “let your light shine, so that seeing your good work, they may give glory to your Father in heaven.” These words urged us on as we desired to help the world see the light of Christ. We believed we could be the reason for another to smile and give glory to God. Encouraged by the word of God, we sought every means to offer humanitarian services, devoting our time, talents and treasures. We organized food outreaches to help the poor with food items, visits to the motherless babies’ homes, to schools to help students who were in debt to offset their debts. We also empowered many young people with a means of livelihood and today we are glad that they are doing fine.
We are happy today that the organization is registered under the Federal Republic of Nigeria as an NGO with the aims of giving educational support to the less privileged, relieving poverty, supporting human rights and community development, enlightening people on the need to trust God and put away the fear of the unknown, as well as building strong men and women who will in turn build up others for the progress of the society and country at large. It is our desire that through the help of God, we will continue to touch lives and heal the world through the love of Christ.
